Terms of Use

Effective date: 1 March 2025 | Governed by the laws of New Zealand

By creating an account or accessing the Untangle platform, you agree to these terms. Please read them before you sign up.

1. Who We Are

Untangle is operated by UNTANGLE COACHING LIMITED (8138086) , a New Zealand company (“Untangle”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Our platform is available at untangle.co.nz and through associated apps and services.

We exist to help New Zealand families navigate life with neurodivergent children — through the OWLS executive function profile, courses, and community. We are an educational platform. We are not a health provider, clinical service, or substitute for professional advice.

2. Eligibility

To use Untangle, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a parent, caregiver, educator, or person supporting a neurodivergent child or young person
  • Provide accurate information when you register
  • Be located in New Zealand, or agree that your use is governed by New Zealand law

Untangle is designed for adults supporting children — not for children to use directly. Please do not create an account on behalf of a minor, or allow a minor to use your account.

3. Your Account

When you create an account, you’re responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • Any activity that happens under your account
  • Updating your information if it changes

If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, contact us immediately at hello@untangle.co.nz.

4. What We Offer

OWLS Profile

The OWLS (Overcome Weakness and Leverage Strengths) Profile is a research-informed executive function profiling tool. It generates a personalised profile and course recommendations based on your responses. The OWLS Profile is an educational tool — it does not constitute a clinical diagnosis.

Membership

Membership gives you access to courses, resources, community features, and other platform content. The specific inclusions depend on your membership tier. We may update or change what’s included in a membership tier with reasonable notice.

Custom Programme

Our Custom Programme tier provides a more tailored learning path based on your OWLS Profile results and specific goals.

Community

Members may have access to community features where they can connect with other whānau. You’re responsible for how you engage in these spaces. We expect members to treat each other with respect — see Section 7 for community standards.

5. Subscriptions and Payment

Pricing

Current pricing is displayed at untangle.co.nz/pricing. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly basis. Your subscription will renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by emailing hello@untangle.co.nz. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.

Refunds

If you believe you’ve been charged in error, contact us within 14 days and we’ll investigate. One-time purchases (including standalone OWLS Profiles) are non-refundable once the profile has been accessed.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Untangle does not store your credit or debit card details. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

6. Not a Health or Therapeutic Service

⚠️ This is important. Please read it.

Untangle provides educational content and community support. We are not:

  • A health provider or clinical service
  • A substitute for professional psychological, psychiatric, or medical advice
  • Able to diagnose neurodevelopmental conditions
  • A crisis service

If you or your child is in crisis, please contact:

  • 1737 (free call or text, any time)
  • Youthline: 0800 376 633
  • Lifeline: 0800 543 354
  • Your family’s GP or a qualified health professional

The OWLS Profile is a research-informed educational tool designed to help families identify patterns in executive function. It is not a clinical assessment and does not replace evaluation by a qualified professional.

7. Community Standards

If you have access to community features, you agree to:

  • Treat other members with respect and kindness
  • Protect the privacy of children — do not share identifying information about specific children without consent
  • Not post content that is harmful, discriminatory, or abusive
  • Not share another member’s private information outside the community
  • Not use the community for commercial promotion without our written permission

We may remove content or suspend access for members who don’t uphold these standards. We’ll always try to address concerns first, but reserve the right to act quickly if something is harmful.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Untangle platform — including the OWLS profile framework, courses, resources, and brand — belongs to Untangle Limited or our licensors.

You may use platform content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, distribute, or sell platform content
  • Use the OWLS framework or profile system outside the platform without written permission
  • Present Untangle content as your own

If you’d like to use our content in an educational or professional context, get in touch — we’re open to conversation.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, Untangle’s liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

We’re not liable for:

  • Decisions you make based on platform content
  • Outcomes from using the OWLS Profile
  • Interruptions to service or technical issues
  • Content shared by other members in community spaces

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under New Zealand law, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know by email or in-platform notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Continuing to use Untangle after the effective date means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t agree, you can cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be resolved under New Zealand jurisdiction. We’ll always try to resolve disputes informally first — email hello@untangle.co.nz.
